Hello there, and welcome to Barefoot at Brunch! I’m Amanda, and I’m so glad you stopped by.
This blog is my happy place, and as you may have surmised if you’ve peeked around at all, food plays a really big role in my happiness. (If you’ve ever done a happy dance in your chair after taking a bite of something particularly delicious, then you’ve come to the right place – we’re going to get along great.)
One of my favorite things to do is to come up with a new recipe, serve it to someone else, and watch them enjoy. (Butternut squash mac and cheese, anyone?) So eventually I started thinking ‘why not start a blog?’ After all, that way, I could share one of the things I love most with even more people than those who pass through my kitchen on a regular basis.
Because I love cooking so much, I not only wanted to share my favorite recipes, I also wanted to make cooking accessible to everyone out there who maybe loves food, but doesn’t know a whole lot about preparing it. (I didn’t learn how to cook until I was in college, so I get it.)
Here, you’ll not only find recipes running the gamut from breakfast to dessert, you can also find tips and tricks for how to do things like make browned butter (my secret weapon) and prep a butternut squash (a uniquely tricky veggie to prepare).
While food is my great love, I’m also constantly striving to live my best life. (As are we all, am I right?) But what that means in the context of the blog is that while most of what I share is food-related, I’ll also occasionally choose to post something that I’ve found to be helpful, inspiring, or both.
So whether it’s my thoughts on the benefits of mindfulness practice, to ideas on how to brighten up a dull office space, to a list of books to cozy up with on a night in, you’ll also find some non-food related insights every now and then that will hopefully provide some nice food for thought as you go about your day.
Thanks for stopping by – I hope you enjoy!
